Ron Mcintosh – Chairperson
Ron is a practicing Lawyer and has a strong interest in establishing equity for the students we are targeting.
Bernardine Reid
Bernardine is a board member & Secretary. Bernardine is a trained teacher as well as a Learning Ways Trust screener.
She has a background in secondary teaching and careers counselling. Her focus for recent Post Graduate study was the use of computerised programmes for the assessment and remediation of Dyslexia. This influences the way she works with students as a Learning Ways educator.
Judy Dunce
Judy has a Masters Applied in Social Work. She is a registered social worker who works with school age children through Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMS).
Through her previous work as a social worker in schools, Judy identified that many children have a need for specialist testing and lessons as provided by Learning Ways Trust.
She was instrumental in establishing contact between us and the Senco – at a Porirua school. It is through this link that the pilot Project was rolled out, leading to the current model and working relationship with this Porirua school.
Carmen Taylor
Carmen is our Treasurer. She was employed at The New Zealand Treasury for 14 years, the last 10 of which she managed a commercial business unit within Treasury that helped NZ businesses offer lending terms to their overseas buyers and access finance from banks.
Over recent years, Carmen has been working as a Teacher Aide at Cashmere Avenue School with children who have specific learning needs similar to those students being supported by Learning Ways Trust.
Christina Moroney
Working as a fundraiser within the Board, Christina is a NZ registered teacher and a SPELD trained & registered specialist teacher.
She has been a Specific Learning Difficulty tutor for 20 years. She is passionate about effecting change and educational equity for marginalised, vulnerable children.
